Volunteer Positions

The staff structure of Raven LARP consists of:
Stefan Samoyloff: Head Pirate
Paul Church: Head Ninja

Our volunteer model is mainly contribution-based - if you have an idea for some plot, backstory, the world's longest dungeon crawl, or some new rules, you are welcome to submit it and we will reward you (usually with Raven Points) and decide how your submission should be used.

We will maintain a list of open projects that we are openly soliciting contributions for, with associated deadlines and rewards. At the moment we are in a startup phase where the rules we already have haven't been playtested and the common base of plot source material hasn't been fully released, so that list is empty. Contributing plot material does not commit you to NPC; you can write plot and still PC every event. The more "operational" positions are on an event-by-event basis.

This is the list of volunteer roles at present - as the game grows, more "middle management" will be added.

Ninja - Members of the NPC cast primarily responsible for playing combat roles throughout the event.

Pirates - Plot often requires information to be communicated to the PCs, or for scenes to be "acted out" in order to move the plot along. Pirates are members of the NPC cast who are responsible for more role-playing type roles; including memorizing and rehearsing prepared lines. They may also be called upon for some amount of combat.

Master Ninja - A Master Ninja will be in charge of a particular module or encounter, assigned a group of regular Ninja and responsible for ensuring that they understand the roles they have been given and the overall organization of the encounter, and responsible for communicating the "set pieces" of the encounter to the PCs. The Master Ninja is basically handed a write-up, along with whatever items, treasure, and special props are needed, and is responsible for running it. Any experienced player who is NPCing an event is welcome to volunteer for this position - it offers some extra Raven Points on top of the usual NPC rewards. No long-term commitment is required.

Writers - Any player who wishes to submit plot or other source material. There will be enough public information about the game world that players can generally write without special access and have their material edited by the Head Ninja and Head Pirate to fix any holes that come up. If a player wants to work on a submission that requires access to "spoiler" material, they can bring their proposal and obtain that access. This will cause some amount of compartmentalization; for example, if you want to write in-depth plot that requires you to know the "deep dark secrets" of one of the factions, you might have to agree not to associate with that faction as your PC.

Logistics Front Line - Volunteers that fill a logistical position such as working the kitchen, inspecting weapons for safety, getting new players through the process of starting a character, running the logistics desk, and so on. These are usually not full-time roles, and are rewarded in Raven Points. In cases where a position requires a player to sacrifice large parts of their time at the event, other compensation may be negotiated.
